Elixir
Elixir is a restaurant in the Fes Medina.
Created within our family home, a traditional, 300 year old riad within the Fes Medina, we have been inspired to invite others into our home to enjoy real Fassi food.
Restaurants in the Fes medina tend to cater to tourists; if a local person goes to a restaurant, it’s not going to be a Moroccan restaurant. The reason is that the Fassi know that the very best in Moroccan cooking is found at home.
There’s a good reason for this. Moroccan food takes time. Tagines take hours to prepare properly, slowly, gently… most restaurants are understandably forced to cheat by using pressure cookers and their like to cut the waiting time. After all, who wants to wait four hours to eat?
Pastilla, the ultimate challenge for a Moroccan kitchen and a Moroccan gourmet’s ultimate delight, is also a time consuming labour of love to prepare.
So, Elixir is open to anyone, at any time, but only by reservation. We cater to parties of one to twenty, and we can offer anything from a simple, fresh lunch, to a traditional feast.
We are also very happy to arrange traditional musicians and dancers. If it’s a special occasion, please let us know, and we’ll ensure that it’s memorable.
We are located in Zkak Roumane, close to Bab el Guissa and the Palais Jamai hotel.
